Marjorie’s Experience

Marjorie Saylor is a survivor of child sexual abuse and teen rape that pushed her into the arms of sexual exploitation in the adult industry and a terrifying relationship with domestic violence.  After a brief encounter with attempted suicide in 2012 she decided to take her life back one day at a time and after the birth of her daughter she grew a new strength out of the need to protect her which resulted in her escape in July of 2013. Since then she has been active in the local and faith based communities helping them to understand the cause of  child sexual trauma and why our youth are so a risk of human trafficking as she shares her story and hope. She mentors young girls and families that are going through the things she is only so familiar with. She is also a student at Palomar College with a major in Psychology minoring in Criminal Justice. She has been called on by her professors to give presentations on human trafficking, domestic violence, and the dangers of pornography because of her own experience. She is taking every opportunity to share her experiences and why she ended up there to help shed light on what is such a major problem within the US. In March 2014 She joined Treasures Ministry in LA and completed their training program in outreach to women in the adult industry. In August of 2014 Marjorie then joined up with Carissa Phelps and became an affiliate of Runaway Girl Inc. as a Subject Matter Expert and began her training to be able to train law enforcement and the community in response and protocol to child victims of CSEC. In December 2014 she joined with Sowers Education Group to be on a panel of survivors speaking to 9th grade girls at a annual youth conference sponsored by the LAPD. Jan 12th She joined with a group of local survivors and Project Hope to march along side Senator Marty Block and Generate Hope in San Diego in recognition of the national human trafficking awareness day.  Jan 17th she volunteered with Operation Safehouse and the Riverside County Human Trafficking Task Force in a Day Of Action where she took state mandated awareness posters to businesses that are required to have the information posted in view of the public. You can read more about her and the event here: http://m.pe.com/articles/businesses-758443-law-trafficking.html . On February 7th of this year she was honored to share the stage with Ernie Allen, founder of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and Mr. Kenneth Morris Jr. who is the great, great, great grandson of abolitionist Fredrick Douglas and also great, great grandson of Booker T. Washington at the fourth annual Justice Matters Conference in Murrieta as their main survivor speaker. In May of 2015, Marjorie began partnering with the Alabaster Jar Project to facilitate their survivor peer support group which meets in North County S.D. As a full-time student and mother she is determined to make this world a better place for her daughter and so many other deserving children today. She takes every opportunity she gets to aide in the fight against human trafficking. See more here: http://m.pe.com/articles/trafficking-759575-conference-human.html
